AUSTIN — Remi Kanazi, Palestinian-American poet and human rights activist, will read poetry from his new book, Before the Next Bomb Drops: Rising Up From Brooklyn to Palestine, at 6:30 p.m., Friday, October 30, 2015, in the auditorium of the UT-Austin School of Art (ART 1.102), at the corner of San Jacinto and 23rd Street.

The Palestine Solidarity Committee at UT-Austin is presenting Kanazi for a night of poetry and conversation. A Palestinian-American human rights activist, Kanazi is a poet, writer, and organizer based out of New York City. His political commentary has been featured by news outlets throughout the world. Kanazi’s performances mix passion, humor, and candor, which should make for a powerful experience for those attending..

The Center for Asian American Studies and the Interfaith Community for Palestinian Rights are co-sponsors of the event which is free and open to the public. San Jacinto is the closest UT parking garage. For more information, visit the Facebook event page.


Palestinian solidarity demonstration in Houston

HOUSTON — The Palestine Solidarity Committee (PSC) at UT-Austin and the Students for Justice in Palestine (SJP) at the University of Houston are calling on all Palestinians and supporters to stand up for the Palestinian people at a solidarity demonstration at the Israeli Consulate, 24 Greenway Plaza, Houston 77046, on Sunday, November 1, 2015, from 2:30-5:30 p.m.

The public is encouraged to bring Palestinian flags and kuffiyehs to protest Israel’s settler-colonialism and support the Palestinian people. Find out more at the Facebook event page.
