Five books about the Mondragon Cooperative Corporation based in Spain’s Basque Country provide a platform for Carl’s discussion of the vital experiment in socialist and working-class alternatives that has been steadily growing over the past 50 years. Mondragon, which was founded by a priest known as Father Arizmendi in 1956, now involves more than 100,000 workers in industrial, service, and educational coops that are owned and run by the workers.
