Conservative Republican Congressman Ted Poe from Houston has garnered some recent press for his dramatic speeches delivered each morning to a virtually empty House chamber. Lamar Hankins, who was then a defense attorney, remembers Poe when he was a DA in Harris County where, according to Lamar, Poe possessed an “innate meanness,” a “grandiose sense of self,” and “did not seem to care about justice, but he liked to humiliate those accused of crime…”
