Gilbert Shelton, the legendary underground comix artist who created the Fabulous Furry Freak Brothers and Wonder Wart Hog, started out with the famed Texas Ranger humor magazine in Austin, where he and Ramsey Wiggins first met — back in the heady days of the early 60s countercultural scene — where this tale starts.
